Sidewalk Chalk Artists "Paint the Town" with Sidewalk Chalk from Eternity Arts
Sidewalk Chalk is a soft grade chalk that's available in a complete spectrum of vibrant colors. Because of it's soft, whipped composition, its brilliant pigments easily glide onto concrete surfaces causing the artist's work to jump to life. Traditional sidewalk chalks are very pale by comparison.
Cities have found that this chalk works great for a “chalk on the walk event” where the city’s Fine Arts Counsel will sponsor a gathering of participants who draw on the sidewalks of a designated area of the city. These drawings on the walks are numbered and judged with prizes given accordingly.
Until recently, the best "Sidewalk" chalk was made by Dixon Ticonderoga in the 72-count box. In mid 2005 Dixon decided to discontinue the line. Eternity Arts now makes this chalk and has expanded the colors it offers.
One of the most exciting emerging trends in sidewalk art is 3-D chalk drawing. When viewed from the right direction objects can appear to arise from the sidewalk surface. Other drawings appear as deep holes in the sidewalk.
